At OutServe Window Cleaning, we believe maintaining a property is important — but maintaining the health, safety, and wellbeing of our communities matters even more.
As part of Knife Crime Awareness Week, we wanted to take a moment to speak about an issue affecting communities across the UK. Knife crime destroys lives, families, futures, and communities. Carrying a knife is not “cool,” it is not protection, and it can lead to devastating consequences in seconds.
We are proud to say that every OutServe van carries:• AEDs (defibrillators)• Large first aid and trauma kits• Emergency bleed control equipment including tourniquets• Staff trained to respond in emergencies
We genuinely hope we never have to use any of this equipment or training. But if a situation arises where somebody needs help, window cleaning can wait. People come first.
A Service Provider That Cares
OutServe Window Cleaning has always tried to be more than just a window cleaning company. We want to be visible, approachable, and supportive within the local community.
That means:• Turning up• Staying in touch• Looking out for vulnerable people• Supporting local families and organisations• Being available if someone feels unsafe or needs help
If a young person, member of the public, or anyone in the community feels threatened or unsafe, they should never be afraid to approach one of our vans or operatives for help.
What To Do If You Suspect Someone Is Carrying a Knife
If you believe somebody is carrying a knife:
• Do not confront them aggressively• Do not try to “be a hero”• Move yourself and others to safety• Call 999 if there is immediate danger• Report concerns to the police, school, parent, safeguarding lead, or trusted adult
For young people especially — if you know a friend is carrying a knife, speaking up could save their life or somebody else’s. Staying silent is never worth the risk.
How To Protect Yourself
The safest form of self-defence is always avoidance and getting away from danger.
If confronted:• Stay calm where possible• Try to create distance• Run to a safe public place if you can• Shout for help• Call 999 as soon as safe to do so
No argument, reputation, or moment of anger is worth a life-changing injury or prison sentence.
Carrying a Knife Is a Criminal Offence
Many young people do not fully realise the consequences of carrying a knife. Possession alone can lead to:• Arrest• A criminal record• Prison sentences• Difficulty getting jobs or travelling abroad• Serious injury or loss of life
One poor decision can permanently change multiple lives.
Looking After Our Communities Together
At OutServe Window Cleaning, we clean and maintain properties every day across the local area — but we also care deeply about the people who live in them.
We want our communities to feel safer, stronger, and more connected.
“The service provider who cares, turns up & stays in touch.”
If you ever need assistance and see one of our vans nearby, do not hesitate to approach us. Helping the community will always come before cleaning windows.
